AL-SAM history is tied to the story of Mr. Sabir Argaw, who is one of the most successful and supreme business acumen in Ethiopia. AL-SAM journey started when Mr. Sabir Argaw founded a small retail shop outlet in 1982 at Merkato(the biggest market place in Ethiopia) with an initial capital of 17,000 birr. This shop served as an incubator to the birth of SAM international plc which was established in the year 1994 and was engaged in import and wholesale business. Later by changing its structure the name SAM international is changed to AL-SAM.
AL-SAM is established in 1991 EC (1998 GC) as a private limited company. At the time AL-SAM plc is mainly engaged in Importing and distribution of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). With over 20 years experience in the FMCG industry, the company is well known in providing internationally well known brands and with huge infrastructure development and providing products with affordable price.
The company has enjoyed steady natural growth based upon product & service quality and customer satisfaction as well. Currently AL-SAM is one of the largest companies in Ethiopia with an increasingly diversified business portfolio ranging importing and distribution of FMCG products and home electronics appliance, real estate development, exporting of Agricultural products and assembling of home electronics appliance.
